What We Need

As a test engineer, you will automate unit and black box tests for a broad set of game systems, harvest test artifacts/metrics/telemetry, and curate live playtests for a multiplatform AAA title. In service of core software quality, you will extend and instrument game systems in-engine, ensuring coverage and correctness, performance, and efficiency. You will facilitate build distribution and playtesting within 31st Union and with external QA partners.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • Expertise with the C# / ASP.NET Core and C / C++ programming languages along with a strong familiarity with OO design principles
  • Scripting language (ex: Python) experience for functionality both inside and outside of the game engine.
  • Experience with managing and scaling automation computing resources
  • Experience with other testing frameworks and creating systems of functionality.
  • Strong ability to analyze a situation and create meaningful notifications
  • Self-motivated and able to drive ideas to completion
  • Experience with Client and Server functionality
  • Proven ability to work well with all game development disciplines
  • Proven programming experience on multiple commercial software projects
  • Ability to quickly learn and grow into new areas of development

Desired Skills:

  • Unreal Engine 4/5 experience
  • Familiarity with common CI frameworks: Jenkins, TravisCI, etc.
  • Shipped AAA console or PC titles
  • Experience developing for game consoles (PS5, XBOX Series X, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Perforce and Jira
  • Multithreading knowledge

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $98,000 and $140,000 per year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
