The Senior AWS Cloud Engineer is responsible for driving innovation & automation that adheres to cloud architectural best practices within the AWS cloud platform. This includes O&M and designing & implementing new cloud platform solutions that accelerate cloud migrations from on-prem to AWS, reduce costs, and improve overall security and resiliency of systems & workloads in AWS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in provisioning and maintaining AWS cloud services.
- Collaborate with other Engineers, Developers, DBAs, and System Administrators when designing new or improving existing cloud solutions.
- Implement industry cloud best practices for security, performance, cost, & resiliency in all aspects of design & implementation.
- Administer, architect, support, enhance and monitor AWS services including analytics, infrastructure, networking, connectivity, user access management, security, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
- Administer, architect, manage and maintain IAM, user access, user groups and permissions for users including assigning roles and permissions, support third-party IAM integrations and other security tools as needed across all environments.
- Provide network infrastructure administration, design and architect level support for connectivity, configuration, performance, security, and reliability.
- Perform administration and management of VPCs, NACLs, NSGs, and DNS services.
- Orchestrate, provision, monitor, audit and manage EC2 instances and other AWS services for optimal performance, availability, and resource utilization including backup and restores.
- Troubleshoot OS issues, EC2 patch management, application software patching, and address vulnerabilities.
- Provide support for FedRAMP/ATO accreditation including logging, monitoring, and supporting documentations.
- Optimize the existing cloud migration process by introducing more automation (E.g., IaC) into existing workflows with the end goal of speeding up on-premises to cloud migrations.
- Configure, support, and manage various AWS Services such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Config, RDS, Redshift, DynamoDB.
- Experience architecting, designing, and deploying AWS solution using container orchestration and management services such as EKS, ECR.
- Promote continual improvement through automation of existing cloud tools & DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines.
- Improve upon existing cloud monitoring tools & alerting for cloud-hosted systems to ensure cloud systems’ availability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency are optimal.
- Automate deployment pipelines in a scalable, secure, and reliable manner using IaC and immutable infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot issues with application deployments.
- Create and maintain knowledge articles, SOPs, and required configuration management artifacts such as build and release artifacts.
Qualifications
Knowledge of AWS ecosystems at scale.
Hands-on experience using both the AWS Management Console and the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI).
Experience administrating, architecting, designing, building, and maintaining AWS cloud-native services as well as third party COTS/GOTS tools and technologies.
Hands-on experience and proficiency in using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Config, Ansible for automation, infrastructure as a Code (IaC) and configuration management, VPC management, NACLs, NSGs, and DNS including writing and maintaining playbooks, templates, and roles.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, Selenium, and others.
Hands-on experience with setting up, developing, configuring and maintaining DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines.
Hands-on scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, BASH, SQL, NoSQL, etc.
Required Qualifications:
5 to 7 years of experience as an AWS Cloud Engineer or similar role.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or related technical discipline (4 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for education).
Two (2) years of experience and proven success in AWS design, development, architecture, support, management, and operations within a large-scale organization.
Hands-on experience Architecting, designing, building, and deploying with Linux, UNIX, Windows, container and server-less technologies.
Hands-on experience with use of industry standard system architecture, AWS Well-architected framework, AWS Shared responsibility models, and system management concepts and tools.
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust.
