Purpose:

The Architect & Principal Technology R&D Engineer will be instrumental in assessing current technologies and crafting a forward-thinking product roadmap. Working closely with product marketing and engineering teams, this role will integrate market trends, customer requirements, and competitive positioning to ensure our technology stays ahead of the curve. The successful candidate will contribute to the strategic direction of the company's semiconductor test technology by researching, designing, and developing innovative testing solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the creation of a forward-looking technology roadmap that aligns with market trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics, in collaboration with Product Marketing.
  • Conduct in-depth research on cutting-edge semiconductor test technologies and emerging trends, identifying opportunities to advance our product offerings.
  • Architect robust, scalable, and efficient semiconductor test solutions, focusing on long-term innovation while addressing immediate market demands.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including product marketing, engineering, and operations, to guide the product lifecycle from concept through deployment.
  • Participate in high-level strategic discussions to influence the direction of product development and ensure alignment with overall company goals.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to integrate market insights into the technical design and development of next-generation products.
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and researchers, fostering a collaborative environment that drives innovation and operational excellence.
  • Stay abreast of competitive technologies and develop strategies to maintain a competitive edge in semiconductor test technology.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Master's degree in physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. PhD is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor test technology, including a deep understanding of testing methodologies, equipment, and industry trends.
  • Proven expertise in semiconductor test technology architecture, design, and integration. Strong knowledge of industry standards and protocols.
  • Ability to translate market trends and customer requirements into a strategic technology roadmap.
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to work effectively across departments and geographies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and overcome technical challenges in innovative ways.

The pay range for this role in Beaverton, OR is between $163,500 and $214,620. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
