Description
The Build Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and executing the build processes for spacecraft and satellite systems. This role involves working closely with engineering teams to ensure that all components and systems are assembled and integrated according to specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Build Management: Lead and manage the build process for spacecraft and satellite systems, including assembly, integration, and preparation for testing and deployment.
- Process Execution: Develop and execute build procedures, ensuring that all components are assembled and integrated accurately and efficiently. Follow established guidelines and standards to ensure high-quality outcomes.
- Coordination: Collaborate with design engineers, integration teams, and project managers to ensure that build activities are aligned with project requirements and timelines.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues encountered during the build process. Implement corrective actions and coordinate with cross-functional teams to address complex problems.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of build processes, including assembly procedures, quality checks, and any deviations or issues encountered. Prepare build reports and documentation for review.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all build activities meet quality standards and specifications. Conduct inspections and verifications to confirm that assembled systems are ready for subsequent testing and deployment.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in a build or assembly engineering role, with a strong understanding of assembly and integration processes for complex systems.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with build tools and equipment (e.g., assembly fixtures, precision measurement instruments). Strong knowledge of assembly and integration techniques.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues during the build process.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in the assembly and integration of components and systems.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret and/or a TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in build engineering, with significant experience in aerospace or high-tech industries.
- Advanced Skills: Expertise in advanced assembly and integration techniques, including experience with high-precision or mission-critical systems.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications in assembly or quality management (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Manufacturing) are a plus.
- Industry Experience: Extensive experience in aerospace or space technology sectors, particularly with spacecraft or satellite systems.
- Innovation: Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in build processes and methodologies.
