ROLE: DEVOPS ENGINEER WITH KUBERNETES

CONTRACT PERIOD: 12+ months

WORK LOCATION: RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ (MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ONSITE ACCORDING TO COMPANY POLICY, NOT NEGOTIABLE)

We are seeking a skilled DevOps Engineer with expertise in Kubernetes (RedHat OpenShift) to join our innovative team. As a key member of our DevOps group, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our OpenShift-based infrastructure. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance the deployment pipeline, ensure system reliability, and optimize application performance.

Responsibilities

  1. Kubernetes Expertise: Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes clusters. Set up and maintain production-ready Kubernetes environments. Monitor and troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters for performance and reliability. Implement best practices for container orchestration.
  2. Infrastructure Automation: Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform to automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure components. Maintain version-controlled IaC scripts for consistency and scalability.
  3. Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes. Integrate OpenShift into CI/CD workflows to facilitate seamless containerized deployments.
  4. Monitoring and Logging: Implement and configure monitoring and logging solutions tailored for OpenShift environments. Respond to and resolve incidents related to infrastructure and application performance.
  5. Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices for containerized applications and Kubernetes clusters. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  6. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with application modernization teams to understand application requirements and optimize deployment processes. Work in tandem with operations and support teams to ensure smooth production operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  2. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, OpenShift (Hybrid Cloud)).
  3. Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python).
  4. Experienced in Java, Microservices using Spring Boot and Build Tools (Maven or Gradle).
  5. Extensive hands-on experience in Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Microservices.
  6. Good understanding of Service Mesh.
  7. Good knowledge in Spring Batch Job and Cron Job.
  8. Proven experience in Kubernetes administration and orchestration.
  9. Proficient in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
  10. Experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
  11. Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  12. Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, containerd).
  13. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ELK stack).
  14. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  15. Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with a focus on OpenShift Kubernetes.
  2. Comprehensive understanding of OpenShift architecture, deployment, and administration.
  3. Relevant certifications (e.g., Red Hat Certified Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator) are a plus.
