Process Engineer
Reports to: Engineering/Maintenance Manager
FLSA: Exempt NORMA Job Category: Salaried
Department: Process Engineering
Location: Lithia Springs
Objective:
The objective of the Process Engineering position is to implement, maintain and continuously improve NDS' Quality, Cost and Delivery systems in Operations. These areas shall include new and/or existing processes and systems necessary to achieve NDS/NORMA's Vision, Mission, and Business Plan goals.
Essential Functions of the Job and Responsibilities:
Include the following. *Other duties may be assigned

  • Quoting for new and existing business (backup to Manager)
  • Planning Process engineering deliverables and ensuring the overall execution of Process related engineering requirement
  • Reviewing drawings from other Disciplines
  • Maintain Master Plant Layout (AutoCAD)
  • Planning and implementation of new projects to ensure that deliverables are issued on schedule, project milestone dates are met, and given tasks are completed within the allowed budget;
  • Lead Problem Solving activities related to processes, identifying root cause and implementing actions to mitigate reoccurrence
  • Lead PFMEA activities
  • Lead Control Plans
  • Develop / update documents and maintain Document Control
  • Creation and maintenance of Bill of Material (BOM)
  • Capital Expenditure Requests and management
  • Develop, implement and maintains process standardization
  • Make process optimizations to drive improvements
  • Incorporate Kaizen activities to champion
  • Drive Safety and Ergonomics improvements
  • Improvement of overall plant efficiency (productivity, quality, cost)
  • Visual Management activities (floor markings, visual boards for tooling and other misc. items)
  • Maintains compliance to the ISO certified quality system in cooperation with all company functions, with direct responsibility for all applicable operating procedures and instructions in Manufacturing.
  • Provides training and support to personnel in manufacturing areas relating to Quality Control, Lean Manufacturing and Process Efficiency.
  • Establishing communication channels
  • Practice and promote NBS Tools
  • Test ability of machines to perform tasks using precision measuring instruments and following specifications
Leadership Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position will require the applicant to work cross-functionally with all manufacturing and engineering departments within the organization to successfully drive and implement engineering best practices.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field
  • 1 to 3 years related experience in a manufacturing plant
  • Ability to manage multi-disciplined team environment using key metrics and problem-solving tools. (Required)
  • Quotation of new and existing business
  • Experience in Cost of Quality (COQ) and Statistical Process Control.
  • Knowledgeable in process mistake-proofing through tooling & fixturing.
  • Knowledgeable in Internal Auditing procedures.
  • Experience with ISO quality systems. (Preferred)
  • Ability to participate in and execute related activities defined in the Advanced Product Quality Planning / Production Part Approval Process policies. (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of and utilization in standard mechanical gauging instruments. (Preferred)
  • Injection Molding Processing (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Minitab
  • Syspro/ ERP System
  • Solid works
  • Wind chill
  • Bill of Material
  • Kaizen/LEAN Training
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and CAD programs (Preferred)
  • Time & Motion Studies (Preferred)
  • Clear understanding of injection molding
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree or related field
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (Preferred)
