Visit our Engineering Careers page ( to learn more about engineering at Applied.Role Responsibilities:Design both hypothesis experiments and design of experiments (DOE), analyze data with statistics and compile reports with high level conclusions on technically challenging process engineering experimentsPerform hardware characterization on a variety of advanced systems and provide guidance to design engineering authority, within safety guidelinesTroubleshoot a variety of complex problems, perform multiple root cause analysis, and resolve a variety of difficult process engineering and customer product issuesGenerate internal and external documentation for products, presentations, and technical reportsInteract with customers to resolve a variety of difficult process engineering issues, up to including oral presentations to customersExecute problem-solving learning cycle: define problem statement, devise experimental plan and select characterization techniques with which data will be collected, perform experiments, perform measurements, process and analyze data, draw conclusions based on data, execute a follow-up learning cycle based on conclusionsMeasure film properties and interpret data to drive concise conclusionsIdentify, select, and work with vendors and suppliersImplement new technology, products, and analytical instrumentationMinimum Qualifications:Graduating with a Master’s or PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Nanotechnologies, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldGood academic standing with a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scaleDemonstrable breadth of expertise in semiconductor technologiesPreferred Qualifications:Previous internship or related field experienceDemonstrated leadership experienceAble to solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutionsAbility to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of informationCommunicated complex ideas; works to build consensusCollaborates across multi-disciplinary teamsFlexible and adaptable mindset who thrives in a results-driven cultureThesis and relevant coursework; patents and publicationsApplied Materials is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity in the workplace.
