Mechanical Engineer responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of complex electric motors, focusing on improving system efficiency, reliability, and resistance to harsh conditions.
  • Conduct advanced engineering analyses, including thermal, vibration, and structural assessments, to optimize motor designs and enhance performance.
  • Drive innovation in motor design by exploring new materials, manufacturing techniques, and technologies to enhance performance and reduce production costs.
  • Oversee product testing and validation programs, ensuring compliance with both internal and external standards and client specifications.
  • Lead investigations of field failures and internal product issues, conducting root cause analyses and developing engineering solutions to resolve recurring problems.
  • Serve as a technical expert, advising on system architecture, design trade-offs, and risk mitigation strategies for submersible motor projects.
  • Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and electrical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Autodesk Inventor, applying it for detailed mechanical design and mentoring junior engineers in its use.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical leadership and career development guidance.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of complex fixturing, jigs, and custom machinery, focusing on optimizing production and cost reduction.
  • Pursue advanced CE, attend industry conferences, and mentor team members on emerging trends and technologies.
  • Expertise in mechanical design of electric motors, with strong knowledge of rotating equipment and subsea applications.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor for advanced mechanical design and simulation work. Experience leading complex projects and managing cross-functional teams, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and guide technical teams.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards for submersible motors and experience working within oil & gas or similar industries (i.e. NEMA MG-1, API, IEC, etc.)
  • Complex understanding of Epicor ERP and how its front and backend transactions work, creating MOMs and BOMs, part maintenance, service tickets, salvage, etc.
Mechanical Engineer skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree or Ph.D. preferred).
  • 8+ years' experience in mechanical engineering, with significant experience in designing and developing electric submersible motors or rotating equipment.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Ansys, Autodesk Inventor, Cad Key, Microsoft Office products, and business systems software, such as Epicor v9.05 or higher.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with ASME Y 14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance and stack-ups).
  • Experience assembling prototypes or reverse engineering assembly/components.
