Come for a walk with us today!This position is based out of our Burlington, MA headquarters location, where we work a required hybrid schedule of in-office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays and remote on Wednesdays and Fridays.The Packaging Engineer will allow growth and development within the packaging team by working with a breadth of packaging materials from concept to launch while investigating sustainable solutions within the portfolio and supporting trials/qualifications.What You-ll AccomplishTake the lead in managing multiple projects while maintaining deadlinesSupport new product launches, updates to existing portfolio, and sustainability initiativesDevelop and set standards around specifications and specification management, introducing innovation and design to value solutions, and sharing these solutions with our customers and business partners.Ensure on-time execution of packaging activities for projectsSolid knowledge of different packaging structures and applicationsSupport supplier transitions for new packaging and/or materialsManage packaging information inputs for finished goodsSupport trials and first production runs with manufacturing plantsWork with and support 3rdparty manufacturers and copackersCreate protocols/success criteria for trials and first production runsProperly plan, coordinate, and report each trial, while providing technical support & expertise as needed to execute trial objectives and ensure proper documentation of each activityWho We-re Looking ForTeam Wellie is a group of people who are truly obsessed with all the best ways about winning for the consumer and the pets they love. And so, we are seeking an individual who:Is consumer focused in all they doContinually challenge themselves to go the extra mile to get the job done, and ensure it-s done the right way as opposed to the easy wayHold themselves and others accountableEmbraces continual development through the sharing of feedback and investment in learning opportunities.Is a true collaborator, sharing resources, and engages in healthy debateCelebrates differences and strives to learn from others who are different from themselvesGives back to their community and supports sustainable practicesIn addition, we are looking for someone who meets the following criteria:Degree in Package Engineering, Packaging Science or relatedMinimum 2-3 years- experience in a packaging role requiredPackaging experience in FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) preferredExperience with pet food packaging is a plusExperience in packaging development from concept to launchExperience leading the design of packaging solutions, while keeping in mind sustainability, shelf presence, machine-ability, and shelf life/product protectionEstablished expertise in food packaging materials, technologies, and pricing modelsBusiness-minded, rigorous problem-solving mindset that considers manufacturing and transportation, sustainability, cost, design, shelf life, and sales in our packaging solutionsWorking knowledge of Cape and TOPS softwareGeneral knowledge and understanding of package testing methodology (ISTA/ASTM)Building out, organizing, and managing specifications within a databaseExperience with commercialization and managing multiple projects while maintaining deadlinesThe ability to travel up to 25% of the timeWhy Work for Wellness PetWe care about the wellbeing of our people, their families, and their pets.
