POSITION OVERVIEW

The Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, analyzing, optimizing, and implementing manufacturing and industrial processes in order to improve efficiency and sustainability, reduce cost, and maximize profit. This includes process designing, troubleshooting, process optimization, process analysis, process documentation, quality control, project management, process automation, and quality assurance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Tasks

  • Design and implement process optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle time, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Identify and implement process improvements using lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
  • Identify and implement process control measures, including statistical process control (SPC) techniques, to ensure consistent quality and reduce process variation.
  • Conduct detailed analysis and evaluation of existing manufacturing processes, identifying areas for improvement and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to develop, implement, and maintain detailed process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
  • Monitor and analyze process performance metrics, such as cycle time, yield and scrap rate and develop strategies to meet or exceed targets.
  • Provide training and guidance to production teams on new processes, procedures, and equipment to ensure successful implementation and operation.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve process-related issues and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Analyze process data to identify trends, root causes of problems, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and manage process improvement projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead process validation activities, including protocol development, execution and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality, and production, to ensure seamless process integration and optimization and drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative measures.
  • Ensure all processes comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in process engineering technologies, methodologies, and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this position successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and skill required. The individual must be able to successfully pass drug screens and background checks if requested.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

  • Associate’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, or a related field. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Previous experience in process engineering or a related role in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise.
  • Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients and internal teams, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage projects from start to finish, ensuring that all aspects are completed on time and to the highest standard.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a strong ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and follow through on commitments.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, process optimization techniques, quality control practices, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Fluency in English is required; ability to speak Spanish and/or French is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of quality management systems, such as ISO.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office package including Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook (email/calendar), and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in the use of ERP software, such as SAP.
  • Proficient in the use of process simulation software, CAD tools, and statistical analysis software, such as PTC CREO and Windchill.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

To accomplish the essential functions of the position, one must be physically able to operate or work with computers, calculators, reference books, computer software applications, phones and other standard office equipment. The physical activities of the position include talking, reaching, grasping, light lifting, bending, squatting, and other repetitive motions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is considered primarily physical and performed mainly in a production environment with exposure to environmental factors.
  • Travel up to 50%
