Senior Project Manager Engineer
HDR is looking for a Senior Project Manager Engineer to manage projects for Department of Defense (DoD) and other utility customers, serving as an integral member of the HDR Hawaii-Guam team. In this role, you will collaborate with our Hawaii-based team, supported by more than 11,000 employees worldwide when specialized expertise is needed. You will lead multi-discipline teams to deliver some of the most important and interesting water-related projects in support of the DoD and local utilities.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Senior Project Manager Engineer, we'll count on you to:
- Manage multi-discipline design teams for projects for DoD customers throughout the Pacific Region. Teams may be remote and working across multiple geographies.
- Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of multidiscipline projects with varying degrees of technical complexity for federal and non-federal clients.
- Prepare/review engineering scopes of work and budgets/estimates for proposals and track budget and schedule status throughout the course of each project. Monitor scope of work and scope changes.
- Interface with clients as needed for successful project delivery. Address client requirements and manage client expectations regarding scope, schedule, and quality on projects.
- Communicate with staff and subconsultants to establish work priorities for projects.
- Coordinate with other managers throughout HDR to review workload, project status, and staffing requirements.
- Monitor changes in codes, regulations, and client standards. Implement required changes into the design standards, procedures, and deliverables.
- Perform and/or coordinate quality control reviews of projects.
- Perform project engineering duties when required.
- Manage staff, provide employee mentoring, establish employee goals, and conduct employee performance reviews to advance the skill level of personnel through training, education, and experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- 10 years related experience (15+ years preferred)
- A minimum 5 years project management experience
- PE license, state of Hawaii PE license preferred
- Experience with managing and executing civil engineering design projects in the Pacific Region
- Hands-on experience performing Civil Engineering design including preparing design calculations, specifications, and construction drawings for Federal projects.
- Familiar with Unified Facility Criteria (UFC)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage several concurrent project schedules.
- MS Office and MS Project experience is required (Access experience would be a plus)
- Demonstrated leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving as a Project Manager for DoD clients
- Ability to work out of our Oahu office is a plus but we will consider locations across the US.

California will be $127,589 - $190,555 annually depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
Washington will be $133,389 - $190,555 annually depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
Hawaii will be $121,790 - $173,985 annually depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
