The Engineering Manager confers with management, production, and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures. This role involves coordinating and directing projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals, and directing the integration of technical activities. The Engineering Manager will lead maintenance technicians and oil room operators, actively engaging in hands-on work to ensure effective collaboration and performance across the team.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects from conception to completion, focusing on supporting manufacturing, reducing costs, and analyzing cost versus benefit for each initiative. Quote and assess the manufacturability of products while identifying problems in mechanical design and implementing improvements.
  • Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and oil room operators, actively engaging in hands-on work to ensure effective performance and teamwork, while adapting to the facility's dynamic needs.
  • Design and integrate new electronic control technologies into existing machinery, and determine the best value consumable products (e.g., grinding wheels, diamonds, collets) to enhance production.
  • Source machines, parts, and products to optimize the production process, while performing safety and environmental duties as required.
  • Oversee facility engineering tasks, including building and machine layout drawings, and maintain documentation such as drawings, specifications, and manufacturing prints.
  • Analyze standard costs by product line, seeking opportunities to reduce costs through time studies and process improvements, while establishing good housekeeping practices and maintaining EQQ (Environmental, Quality, and Quantity) requirements within the department.


Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering, with 7 to 10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including 3 to 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing high-speed steel and carbide cutting tools, particularly drills and end mills. Demonstrated project management expertise, strong organizational skills, and effective communication abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft AX, and AutoCAD; excellent computer skills are a plus.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions, multi-task, and prepare paperwork accurately. Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Capable of lifting up to 45 pounds and performing various physical activities such as standing, stooping, climbing, walking, or sitting for extended periods.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work independently and productively.
