About This Job
Harris Kocher Smith is looking for a Civil Project Engineer with 5+ years of local engineering experience working with Dallas, Fort Worth, or other central Texas municipalities and private developers.
As a Civil Project Engineer, you will assist the team with delivery on a variety of projects. You will be involved with daily tasks including design and coordination with in-house teams, clients, and municipalities. This role provides the training and development of skills that lead a candidate towards project management.
Project Engineer Essential Functions and Duties
- Under general supervision, develop drainage studies and reports, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, designs and drawings according to client specifications and Project Manager direction
- Produce engineering plan sets, specifications, and submit documentation packages while following HKS standard operating procedures and applicable local, state, and federal requirements
- Quality check all work and work of other designers to ensure complete and accurate plans are provided to engineers
Project Engineer Requirements
- 5+ years of site design experience, local experience required
- Texas PE (or ability to acquire license) required
- Advanced experience designing grading and drainage plans, detention and water quality ponds, open channels, closed conduit storm sewer, stormwater handling features, utility improvements, pipe networks, and cross-sections and profiles required.
- Advanced ability in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficiency with Hydrologic and Hydraulic Modeling software (HEC-RAS, SWMM, CUHP)
Project Engineer Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Proven ability to develop business opportunities, network with industry professionals, and build client relationships
- Demonstrated success in winning new business and securing projects
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and deliver complex civil engineering projects
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for engaging with potential clients and representing the firm at industry events

Pay Range:
$100,000 -$130,000 per year
Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
