As part of these Value Streams, CarMax is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to work directly with Agile development teams to ensure quality software is delivered to our associates and customers.What you will do – Essential ResponsibilitiesParticipates in all Agile ceremonies for TeamPlans and executes tests to cover functional, integration, compatibility and regression needs and reports back findings to the TeamHelps lead test automation effort, advocating for automation and contributes to framework design and suggests process improvementsReviews automated test runs, reports out on automated test execution and coverage statuses, and maintains broken automated testsWorks with various areas of the business, grasp their processes and learn how they work togetherUnderstands complex problems, develops solutions and can communicate to both people inside and outside of their teamUses and modifies existing libraries / tools for automation testingCreates test strategies and plans for team and assists other teams when neededIdentifies new tools or processes for adoptionWrites general documentation regarding QE processes and toolsDevelops key quality metrics and reports to stakeholders in the organizationPurpose of the roleThe Senior Quality Engineer is an essential role in the software development life cycle and ensures only properly tested software is released to production. A flawless customer experience is our top priority and this role plays a major part in that company goal. By designing and executing properly prepared test cases (both manual and automated) and working closely together with the entire agile team, this goal is achievable. This position focuses on both the agile team as well as the QE organization.Qualifications and Requirements5+ years of experience in software quality assuranceStrong understanding of Web services, databasesStrong backgroundin test automation with front end and back end automation toolsStrong oral/written communication, presentation, and organizational skillsStrong interpersonal and communication skills for driving strategic initiatives through large and diverse organizationsAbility to work within multiple work streams at one timePreferred Experience:NodeJSSelenium / WebDriverIO / PlaywrightAPI/Integration test automationEducation:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Decision Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is requiredWork Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the Richmond, VA Technology Innovation Center or the Dallas Technology Hub and have a Hybrid work arrangementWork Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
