Job Summary:
Reporting to the Operations Team Member, the associate plans, performs and analyzes bench-level engineering tests and/or research experiments designed to test the feasibility of concepts or technologies required for development of new products. Assist, when relevant, in transfer of technologies into product development. Participates, when necessary, on product development core or project teams.
Primary Duties, Responsibilities & Authorities :
1. Independently plans and performs experiments that support new product or technology feasibility testing.
2. Critically analyzes data generated from experiments. Synthesizes resulting evaluations of product and technology feasibility, as well as ideas and concepts and records them in an R&D Notebook.
3. Reports results of experiments to Operation management and peers. Advises of the product development implications arising from the results and when necessary prepares technical reports.
4. Supports the IDS intellectual property strategy by documenting data and independent, unique and patentable ideas that result from experimentations and concept generation.
5. Maintains scientific equipment as necessary to support scientific and technical objectives as well as regulatory and governance requirements.
6. Maintains good laboratory practices (GLP) consistent with IDS product development objectives and regulatory guidelines.
7. Interfaces with engineering to support experimental designs and performs testing of product produced experimentally as required.
8. Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge And Skills:
Knowledge of the operation of mechanical measurement equipment (e.g. Instron) desirable. Operation of diagnostic instrumentation desirable.
Superior communication skills, both written and oral.
Knowledge of computer programs.
Knowledge of statistical analysis desirable.
Able to lift 50 pounds.
Education And Experience:
Associate's degree or the equivalence in relevant experience.
Minimum 0-5+ years direct laboratory experience
