Group Benefits Quality practice is undergoing a huge transformation and we are looking to change the way we approach software delivery and quality. As a Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in helping to establish frameworks for automated testing, Service Virtualization and incorporate test data management concepts as we help the organization move towards Continuous Testing practices. This role will also ensure adherence to quality engineering standards, best practices, and work to continuously identify testing efficiencies. The Quality Engineering role will partner closely with Scrum teams to increase test coverage, optimize automated test execution time to achieve faster release readiness and contribute to reporting key quality metrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, execute and maintain test artifacts – test cases, frameworks, code library, common capabilities, etc. adhering to the software engineering best practices and meet expected quality standards.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering Lead to develop automated Test Data Management capabilities.
  • Contribute to the quality engineering activities throughout every phase of the SDLC: requirements, design, development, and testing.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering Lead to develop solutions that shift performance, security and accessibility testing earlier in the development lifecycle.
  • Participate in End-to-End Quality Gating as a part of Continuous deployment and Continuous testing processes.
  • Partner with Scrum teams to understand release needs and determine test data and environment needs.
  • Collaborate with Scrum teams and other QA engineers to improve the testing infrastructure and mature the Continuous Testing practices.
  • Display critical thinking skills by identifying and resolving risks and issues in a proactive manner.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with a programming language – Java, JavaScript/Typescript, Databases, PL/SQL etc.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Test automation tools – Playwright, BDD, Selenium, JMeter, CA TDM.
  • Experience with DevOps toolchain products - Sonar, Nexus, Jenkins, Git, etc.
  • Experience with cross-browser testing – Browser stack, Selenium Grid, OpenShift.
  • Experience in risk-based approach for implementing End-to-End test strategies.
  • Knowledge of Agile and/or SAFE methodologies.
  • Effectively use collaboration tools like Rally and/or Jira.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with AppScan, Checkmarx, CA DevTest.
  • Insurance & Financial services domain knowledge.
  • Knowledge of AWS cloud technologies.

Additional Details:

  • Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
  • This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in an office (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Aurora, IL, New York, NY and Danbury, CT) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $82,400 - $123,600.
