HDG is actively looking for Software Engineers. Successful candidates will engage in researching, designing, and developing computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Software Engineers in this role will play a pivotal part reinforcing assured Command and Control capabilities for our DoD customer at NAVWAR.


Duties

  1. Assess user requirements and devise software solutions, leveraging principles and methodologies from computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  2. Enhance or modify existing software functionalities as needed.
  3. Collaborate with various functional disciplines like project management, acquisition, logistics, security, etc., to integrate hardware and software systems, establish specifications, and define performance requirements.
  4. Manage and upkeep databases within specific application domains.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as engineering or mathematics (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems).
  2. A minimum of three (3) years of professional software engineering experience.
  3. Proficiency in applying programming concepts in either a professional or academic environment.
  4. Experience implementing modern software development methodologies (e.g., agile, DEVOPS/DEVSECOPS) in either a professional or academic context.
  5. Skill in identifying risks related to enterprise architecture development for system-of-system cybersecurity designs, optimizing security controls for a defense-in-depth strategy through digital engineering methods (e.g., model-based systems engineering) during the RDT&E phase of the acquisition life cycle.
  6. Familiarity with encrypting all Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) stored on authorized mobile computing devices and removable storage media according to NIST SP 800-171 and NIST Cryptographic Standards and Guidelines.
  7. Experience screening electronic deliverables for malicious code using DoD-approved antivirus software before delivery to the Government, and maintaining appropriate controls (firewalls, password protection, encryption, digital certificates, etc.) to safeguard contract-related information across internal, external, and Government computer systems.

Required Certifications

  1. Agile Developer certification or Certified Scrum Developer certification.

Salary at Highbury Defense is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. This is a contingent position expected to be in San Diego, CA. The pay range for the position will be provided at the time the position is no longer contingent.
