Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK! The Department of Medical Physics is seeking aBiomedical Engineerto join their team! In this role, you will apply your engineering knowledge to instruments, devices, controls, robots, and machines. Your expertise will ensure the operational safety and reliability of our medical equipment, contributing to the overall success of our clinical and research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fabricate mechanical devices with the aid of drawings, sketches, and verbal descriptions, using hand and power tools as well as all common machine tools.• Conduct both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including electrical safety testing on medical device systems and instruments.• Work closely with engineers, clinicians, and research staff to ensure optimal equipment performance and safety.• Maintain and lead assigned medical equipment and hardware, ensuring compliance with relevant safety codes and standards.• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with section Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and task requirements.• Provide operational safety information and training to clinical staff on proper equipment usage and safety protocols.• Document all service work—including time, costs, and activities—within the Biomed database.• Participate in the evaluation of medical devices prior to purchase, conduct incoming inspections, and assist with installations.• Assist in the development and preparation of maintenance, calibration, and testing procedures.• Log all aspects of medical devices into the computer database and instruct staff on removing non-functional equipment.• Perform device location services and conduct medical device inspection rounds regularly.• Lead remediations for recalls and safety notices to ensure compliance and safety.• Implement and identify preventive maintenance schedules, conducting Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Alternative Equipment Manufacturer (AEM) analysis as necessary.

Key Qualifications:• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical, mechanical or biomedical; computer science or related science field

• Familiarity with CAD, CAM, design• Outstanding communication and self-awareness.

• Critical thinking and problem-solving.• Adaptability and resilience to changing needs of research.• Collaboration and building positive relationships.

Additional Information:• Location: 1275 York Ave, NYC• Schedule: Hybrid, 4 days a week onsite

Pay Range: $80,300.00-$128,400.00
