As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Investment Bank, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Adds to team culture of equity and respect.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Formal training or certification on Software Engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Strong understanding of business technology drivers and their impact on architecture design, performance and monitoring, best practices.
  • Advanced experience in AWS and in one or more programming languages; preferably Java.
  • Experience with design and building web environments on AWS, which includes working with services like EC2, ALB, NLB, Aurora Postgres, Dynamo DB, EKS, ECS Fargate, MFTS, SQS/SNS, S3 and Route53.
  • Advanced in modern technologies such as Node JS, Java version 8+, Spring Boot, .NET Core, Restful Microservices, AWS or Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes.
  • Experience using DevOps tools in a cloud environment, such as Artifactory, Docker, GitHub, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Maven, and Sonar Qube.
  • Experience in frontend frameworks such as React or Angular with extensive experience in TypeScript.
  • Experience and knowledge of writing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Environment-as-Code (EaC), using tools like CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Experience with high volume, SLA critical applications, and building upon messaging and/or event-driven architectures.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems will be a plus.

Additional Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • AWS Solutions Architect Certificate.
  • Solid experience with Cloud DevOps tools and methodologies, including CI/CD pipelines, automated QA, and integration testing.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data analytics tools and platforms.
  • Experience with high volume, mission critical applications, and building upon messaging and/or event-driven architectures using SQS, MQ, or Apache Kafka.
