Software Developer

Assurance America is seeking a Software Developer to join our growing ranks as we continue to transform the way technology impacts the insurance business. You will work with a small team of experienced IT professionals and interface directly with stakeholders to understand their challenges and develop solutions. Your daily contributions will have direct, positive impacts on our employees, agents, and customers.

About the ROLE

Each day at Assurance America is different, but as a Software Developer in Information Technology, you will:

  1. Develop, test and maintain software applications using modern programming languages and frameworks.
  2. Collaborate with business partners to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  3. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to coding standards and best practices.
  4. Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality code and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Debug and troubleshoot application issues, providing timely resolutions and enhancements.
  6. Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, estimate project timelines, and deliver solutions on time.
  7. Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, and apply them to improve application development processes.
  8. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development team by sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and mentoring junior developers when necessary.
  9. Identify opportunities to improve the business.
  10. Demonstrate a proactive and self-motivated approach to learning new technologies and techniques to enhance development skills.

Required

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
  2. Strong knowledge of database management systems, preferably SQL Server.
  3. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and provide innovative solutions.
  4. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  5. Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities, project requirements, and technologies.

Preferred

  1. Knowledge of Agile/DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  2. Knowledge of project management.

Physical Requirements

  1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  2. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  3. May be required to work on-call, evenings or weekends.
