This role will be working out of Earth Engineers division in our Springfield, Oregon office.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

Earth Engineers (EE), an established geotechnical consulting firm with offices in Oregon, Washington and Hawaii, is seeking an early-career candidate with 3 to 5 (or more) years of experience to serve as geotechnical engineering or engineering geology staff.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Staff/Project Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist at RMA, your will support lead geotechnical engineers to successfully complete geotechnical projects in ways that satisfy clients and minimize risks. The position, salary, and level of responsibilities assigned to the individual will be based on the experience level of the candidate.

Under the supervision of a lead geotechnical engineer, you will be expected to:

  • Perform geotechnical investigation.
  • Perform geologic hazard assessment.
  • Perform construction observation and testing.
  • Perform geotechnical laboratory testing.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Planning, scheduling, and conducting field investigations and laboratory testing.
  • Data collection, data management, and record-keeping, including calibrating laboratory and field equipment.
  • Prepare written reports and perform engineering analyses, applying analytical skills and technical knowledge of the principles of soil mechanics.
  • Occasional overnight travel within the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii.
  • Occasional lifting of approximately 50 pounds.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The following minimum requirements apply to this position.

  • 2 to 5+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Engineering Geology (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Experience with fieldwork, such as subsurface explorations (drilling and test pits), construction inspection, or geotechnical materials testing
  • Attention to detail with data collection, data management, and record-keeping.
  • Strong communication skills, including written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work on teams and interface with clients, design team, and contractors.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
