Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight.

Essential Functions:

• Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) development, architectural documentation, and perform formal and informal engineering reviews.

• Provide use case development support to junior systems engineering team members.

• Work under the direction of the ART and various product owners, interfacing with team members and government customers.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present technical approaches and findings.

• Experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems, software, and specialty engineers.

• Demonstrated contributions to implementation that include analyzing high-level needs and defining a logical approach to refine the capability into an integrated set of requirements.

• Experience in writing and implementing engineering plans within a project.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience.

• Must possess an understanding of systems engineering processes and principles.

• Must have relevant experience working in an integrated team environment.

• Proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions.

• Experience developing system engineering artifacts (e.g., specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, etc.).

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs.

• Current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active Top Secret clearance is highly desired.

• Experience working within an Agile development environment.

• Experience with Systems Analysis, Metric Development, and Architecture development.

Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers.
