We're currently seeking an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in designing, building, maintaining, and troubleshooting our data platform.

As a Data Platform Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development, maintenance, and optimization of our data platform. Your primary responsibilities will include source setup and data integration, pipeline creation and optimization, and project planning. With a focus on Azure environments and the Azure Data stack, you will have the opportunity to leverage the latest tools and technologies, including enabling natural language querying against our innovative data platform. We are seeking a candidate to work as a full-time employee in our local office in Fort Collins.

Please note that we are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, construct, test and maintain highly scalable data management systems using PySpark, SparkSQL, Azure Synapse pipelines, and Data Lakes.
  • Manage client Azure subscriptions, including resource deployment, network configuration, performance tracking, and security.
  • Implement and maintain the Azure Data stack, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL Synapse Analytics.
  • Adapt quickly to new data sources, technologies, and tools, enabling you to make informed decisions for efficient data processing.
  • Work closely with analysts and stakeholders to understand data needs.
  • Ensure systems meet business requirements and industry practices.
  • Implement measures to safeguard sensitive data.
  • Monitor system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features.
  • Collaborate with data team members and participate in project planning and coordination.
  • Maintain a high level of adherence to project timelines and deliverables, ensuring the timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
  • Expertise in PySpark, SparkSQL / T-SQL, Azure Synapse pipelines.
  • Strong experience in Azure administration and familiarity with the Azure Data stack, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL Synapse Analytics.
  • Proficient in SQL and knowledgeable in data mining and segmentation techniques.
  • Experience with delta logic and best practices for managing Parquet and Delta files.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms.
  • Adherence to established protocols and willingness to adapt and innovate within established guidelines.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Relevant certifications in Azure or data engineering technologies are a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • This position may require minimal physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of less than 10 pounds. This position requires viewing a computer screen more than 80 percent of the time. The job will take place in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions. This position may require some travel and occasional participation in off-site functions.

Salary and Benefits:

  • This is a full-time position with a starting salary range of $70K – $90K and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
