What you'll do

Come join us as we build complete antenna systems "from RF to bits"

  • Mechanical structures that form the antenna
  • Motors and controllers that position the reflectors
  • Radio frequency transmit/receive electronics, high-speed modems, and software systems that deliver a stream of bits to the end customer

At our Atlanta, GA (Duluth) office we have outdoor test facilities including a multi-system, multi-pad bore site range, two planar nearfield ranges, and nearby a 1500-foot elevated pattern range with associated control room. With demonstrated capability in Satellite communications, and antennas, Viasat is able to provide state-of-the-art communications systems for both commercial and government customers. You will be able to use your systems engineering expertise to build the next generation of advanced antenna products and satellite communications terminals!

The day-to-day

As an expert in your field, you will contribute to all of the system aspects of an antenna systems program! Beginning with requirements and concept discussions, analysis with potential customers, the generation of a formal proposal, resulting in a contract award. You would complete the detailed system design, and oversee the implementation, test, system verification, delivery, and sell off of the completed system to the customer. You will be a key member of the division involved with all aspects of ground terminals, including business development, proposal generation, systems engineering, and project engineering.

What you'll need
  • 7+ years of experience working on complex systems
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field
  • Capable of supporting to define test plans and procedures for requirements verification of complex systems
  • Proven analytical system design expertise
  • Proven capabilities to conceptualize, design, implement, and test field satellite ground terminals, antenna telemetry systems, or similarly complex systems
  • Proven experience with proposal and table of compliance generation along with customer specification negotiations.
  • Can work autonomously with little instruction on day-to-day work, but knows when to ask for help
  • Residence and work at Duluth, GA office required
  • US government position. US citizenship required
  • Travel up to 10%
What will help you on the job
  • Direct experience with RF subsystem design and analysis on multiple fielded projects
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD training and task analysis
  • Experience in DOORS or Jama requirements management tools
  • Experience in MATLAB
  • Experience in leading project teams
  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or closely related field
  • Able to obtain a security clearance if needed
  • Strong verbal and writing skills

Salary range
$116,600.00 - $202,800.00 / annually
