Job Description
Works alongside the product engineering team under the guidance of experienced engineers. Will spend most of the time writing code, testing, exploring new technology and automation. Writes code with testability, readability, edge cases and errors in mind. Develops an understanding of different patterns used in the codebase. Learns to create reasonable sized peer reviews with the description of changes and testing conducted. Develops an understanding of different data structures and when to use different structures. Participates and develops an understanding of Agile methodologies and the importance and purpose of cadences of the methodology. Approaches tasks with a view to develop an understanding on how the task fits into the feature, the users and flows impacted, and developing the understanding of the feature's purpose. Seeks to understand how a few systems fit together at a high level and each team's responsibility for their piece of functionality. Aims to think about what technical changes are needed for a task, acceptance criteria and seeks to follow best practice.
Basic Qualifications
- Associate's degree and completion of a vocational program, or equivalent work experience
- Zero to two years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Hands on experience with Golang
- Knowledge of Python, Grafana, Docker containers, Kafka Connect, Azure
- Basic understanding of design and development principles
- Ability to take direction and contribute to the development of a product with minimal supervision
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate with all parties involved in the product team (engineers, product owner, scrum master, third party vendors, customers, etc.) and provide regular status updates
Location Expectations
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days. Hopkins, MN is the preferred location for this position.
