Ascend Learning is hiring a senior software engineer to join our technology team. This senior software engineer position will help support our ClickSafety brand. As a senior software engineer you will have responsibility for developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining software applications in a for-profit organization utilizing Microsoft technologies. This position will work hybrid from our Leawood, Kansas office location preferred. Other Ascend Learning office locations/hybrid or remote may be considered.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Develop and support enhancements and new functionality for the ClickSafety platform using cutting edge technologies, including: .NET Core, Angular, TypeScript, SQL, message queues and microservice architecture.
- Work with Platform Analysts, Scrum Masters, Quality Engineers, Product Owners, and other cross-functional resources to define and deliver business impacting projects.
- Capable of working independently, as well as with team members on different teams and in different locations.
- Function as primary liaison with the internal architecture team, helping to define and refine project initiatives.
- Perform code reviews with other team members in a reviewer capacity.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to other Software Engineers.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field and/or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in software development for web-based applications.
Skills & Abilities
- Understanding of an Agile based development methodology or similar formal methodologies is required.
- Extensive knowledge through work experience with the following programming languages: .NET Core, Angular, TypeScript, SQL.
- Experience with Jira, GIT, IIS, .NET Framework and microservice-based architecture.
- Demonstrated organizational and teamwork skills, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to participate in collaborative development projects.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to translate a business scenario into a technical solution.
