The primary responsibility of this role is to participate in the research and development of existing Carel products and to develop new and custom solutions, with a primary focus on HVAC dampers design and industrialization. The role also encompasses other specialty areas, including humidification and mechanical products for the HVAC/R market.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and development activities to enhance existing Carel HVAC products, with an emphasis on dampers.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of damper designs, from gathering specifications to design and manufacturing.
  • Design and industrialize new HVAC dampers, ensuring they meet industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new and custom solutions for HVAC/R applications.
  • Focus on the development and improvement of humidification systems and mechanical products for the HVAC/R market.
  • Utilize engineering principles and innovative approaches to solve complex problems related to HVAC dampers and mechanical products.
  • Participate in product testing and validation to ensure performance, reliability, and safety standards are met.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in HVAC/R engineering.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Customers to define and refine damper product features.
  • Develop product or system layouts and create detailed drawings and schematics.
  • Plan and prepare product bills of materials (BOM) and implement them in the data management system.
  • Direct and coordinate the manufacturing or construction of prototype products or systems.
  • Plan, develop, and execute test and validation programs to ensure designs meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Research components to ensure they meet design specifications.
  • Communicate with suppliers or manufacturers regarding technical issues and new designs.
  • Assist with design modifications using the Engineer Change Order (ECO) process.
  • Utilize computer-assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering and design tasks.
  • Provide support to Quality and Customer Service departments.
  • Participate in field startups and tests as needed to ensure product performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist the Operations department with technical or product-related issues.
  • Work with the Purchasing team for quotes, engineering samples, and first-piece inspections.
  • Engage in Lean continuous improvement activities to enhance processes and product quality.
  • Any other similar or associated duties necessary to accomplish job objectives, or as assigned by the immediate supervisor
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro- Mechanical engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in the design and development of HVAC dampers or similar equipment.
  • Proven experience in HVAC product design and development, particularly in dampers and mechanical products.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC/R systems, humidification processes, and mechanical components.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools for design and analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information and project updates.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to HVAC/R products.
  • Experience in Project Management
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with industrialization processes and manufacturing techniques.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient HVAC design principles.
  • Certification in relevant HVAC/R technologies or engineering practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with notable Certifications authorities to obtain certifications such as AMCA, UL. ETL or other similar certification types.
  • Solidworks (preferred) or equivalent 3D modeling and drawing experience
