We are looking for a passionate and highly dedicated professional to assist our communications team with our school's social media, video editing, and marketing. This person would work directly with the Communications team to bring our school's vision to life across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate is social media savvy with an understanding of aesthetic treatments and is both creative and data-driven.

This person is an excellent communicator with an understanding of various platforms, analytics, and tools. They must be able to communicate effectively on projects and stay self-driven on tasks and all deliverables. The ideal candidate will also have experience in creating digital assets for social media marketing, Google, graphic design, research, video editing, photography, and marketing.

Responsibilities

  • The resource employee will help manage our overall website presence by creating and updating web content, drafting posts and pages, making updates to WordPress websites and the Gerontology School server under the supervision of the Sr. Web Specialist; providing administrative support for our team.
  • This position requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail, technological proficiency, excellent communication skills, a keen eye for designing website content, creativity and innovativeness, and the ability to work successfully with diverse people in an academic environment.
  • Design, develop, and perform updates to new and existing website content, plugins, and themes on WordPress websites and multisites.
  • Debug error logs to address and fix theme and server errors; implement code changes using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Upload and tag digital assets in our Digital Asset Management System; export assets for optimal web performance.
  • Assist with reporting on web KPIs and using website analytics to inform our digital strategy and evaluation process, including the creation of SEO-optimized web content.
  • Manage email mailing lists.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Work collaboratively with Communications, Student Services, and Development teams.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience working with WordPress site development, web databases, and programming languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP; experience implementing WordPress theme customizations, plugin installations, and updates.
  • Experience using a range of software and website applications including but not limited to: Adobe Creative Cloud, Digital Asset Management Systems, Zapier, Microsoft Power Platform, Office 365, Google Analytics, Trello or Asana, Salesforce.
  • Solid understanding of design principles, typography, color theory and accessibility, and branding and identity.
  • Working knowledge of SEO tactics, web optimization techniques, UX/UI best practices.
  • Understanding of WCAG 2.1 and experience implementing accessibility guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of digital marketing.
  • Video creation and editing skills using one or more of the following software: Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, and/or other web-based video editing apps.
  • Must have great attention to detail and be able to work independently to complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask, collaborate, and prioritize.
  • Interested in learning more about the field of gerontology.
  • Minimum Experience: 2-4 years; internships and student work included.
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education; Bootcamp program.
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Marketing, Digital Media, Computer Science, or related field.

This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position, working approximately 15-20 hours per week.

The hourly range for this position is $25 to $40.
