The VDC Manager will be involved in both office-based and field work, with around 70% of time spent in the office and the rest on-site.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Oversee VDC operations, including drafting, modeling, and coordination with construction teams and trade partners.
- Manage the execution and validation of work on complex commercial projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
- Lead the implementation and adoption of new VDC technologies and workflows, ensuring continuous innovation in processes.
- Provide guidance and support to construction teams, including the use of laser scans, drones, and 3D modeling tools.
- Ensure quality control through continuous validation and improvement of execution strategies.
- Act as a liaison between the VDC team, project engineers (PE), superintendents, and trade partners to ensure seamless communication and project coordination.
- Collaborate with other managers to ensure that schedules are adhered to and resources are effectively allocated.
- Spend time in the field to oversee execution and ensure that all VDC models translate accurately to the physical construction environment.
- Identify talent gaps in BIM (Building Information Modeling) and train or mentor team members to improve technical capabilities.
- Encourage a culture of self-learning and initiative, promoting a hands-on approach to VDC management.
- Take ownership of projects and foster the development of team members who are eager to step into more senior roles.
**Qualifications:**
- 3+ years of experience in VDC, drafting, and modeling, with at least 1-2 years in a managerial capacity.
- Experience with trade partners in the construction industry, with a strong background in building large-scale projects, such as data centers.
- Proficiency in BIM tools and processes, including new software and workflows related to VDC technology adoption.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on effective scheduling and resource management.
- Technical aptitude in areas such as 3D modeling, laser scanning, and drone operations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and foster a positive work environment.
- Proven ability to adapt to new processes, technologies, and software in a fast-paced construction setting.
