The Reliability Engineer on the Facilities team will sustain, support new and existing utility equipment, and continuously improve processes that supports Tesla Giga Factory NY! The best candidate for the position has a high aptitude to learn new skillsets in the position. The expectation of the Reliability Engineer will be to have strengths in each field or familiarization with the capacity to learn. This role requires capability across the board to sustain all systems of the facility.
Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Facilities Maintenance, Reliability Technicians, Design, Operations, Facilities/ Controls Engineering, and other cross functional teams as the expert to ensure factory's utility equipment run in a safe, efficient manner to minimize production downtime
  • Develop/Improve reliability requirements for design phase that includes full life cycle
  • Develop/Improve Preventative Maintenance (PM) program by use of Criticality, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), reliability centered maintenance (RCM) tools to identify failure modes and the mitigations to insure minimal impact on production
  • Responsible for continuous process optimization based on reliability requirements of the system/equipment
  • Define and manage metrics that track field reliability performance
  • Perform data analysis to predict and curb failures before they occur. Owner/subject matter expert to drive equipment-related process improvement including detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Build training material, maintenance routines, service bulletins, one-point lessons and related documentation related to cradle to grave equipment life cycle management
  • Identify equipment critical spare parts and ensure sufficient coverage to prevent extended downtime situations.
  • Provide support to facilities maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtime situations
  • Work with the engineering and operation team to create matrix to ensure asset utilization and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in design phase or as an equipment engineer of facilities process systems/equipment
  • Experience with commissioning and start-up of facilities process systems/equipment
  • In depth knowledge TPM, RCM, FMEA and PdM programs
  • Experience with utilities process systems (HVAC, Compressed air, chillers, cooling towers, Boilers etc.)
  • Experience in Predictive maintenance technologies preferred (Vibration, Inferred, Ultrasound, Oil analysis)
  • Experience managing or working with reliability/maintenance technicians
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to work under intense time pressure
  • Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing is highly desired
  • CMRP OR ASQ CRE certifications preferred

    • Expected Compensation
      • Associate Reliability Engineer - $71,400 - $107,100/annual salary
      • Reliability Engineer - $88,400 - $132,600/annual salary
      • Sr Reliability Engineer - $108,800 - $163,200/annual salary
      + cash and stock awards + benefits
      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
