Job Summary:

Supermicro Computer, Inc. is looking for a Senior IT System Engineer in our headquarters located in San Jose, CA. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a broad range of technical skills in IT solution validation. The Senior IT System Engineer is responsible for validating the data center end-to-end solution which contains server, data storage, networking, operating system, database, and application.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):

  • Ensure all data center components meet certified solution requirements and standards.
  • Validate hardware (servers, storage, networking), software (operating systems, hypervisors), and configurations.
  • Prepare comprehensive RFPs, ensure that all requirements and expectations are clearly communicated, which facilitates more accurate and competitive bids from vendors and streamlines vendor selection.
  • Conduct load testing, stress testing, and performance benchmarking.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOX).
  • Prepare validation reports, configuration documents, and operational guidelines.
  • Work cross-functionally with multiple teams and vendors to validate all data center components ensuring requirements are met and issues have been captured.

Qualifications:

The position requires a combination of leadership qualities, technical skills, and business acumen to effectively manage the IT Infrastructure.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area of study or equivalent education/experience.
  • Minimum 10 years+ in IT solution validation area.
  • Strong understanding of testing processes.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies as needed to stay current in the field of validation engineering.
  • Capacity to quickly assess and adjust validation strategies in response to changing project demands and constraints.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in handling unexpected challenges or obstacles during validation processes.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing multiple validation projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Proficiency in analyzing firmware and software architecture, including understanding data flow, communication protocols, and system interactions.
  • Experience with debugging and troubleshooting firmware and software issues using relevant tools and techniques.
  • Evaluate engineering systems and processes for areas of improvement.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in testing procedures.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Please note that this position requires regular in-office attendance. The successful candidate is expected to be present in the office during standard working hours as determined by the company. In-office collaboration and participation in team meetings, training sessions, and other on-site activities are essential aspects of this role. Candidates should consider the commuting distance and be prepared to fulfill their responsibilities in the designated office location.

Salary Range:

$137,000 - $157,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
