The Core Software team is a high-performance engineering team responsible for building the fundamental software to manage the ONTAP software product. You will work as part of a team responsible for the development, testing, and debugging of distributed software that drives NetApp cloud, hybrid-cloud, and on-premise solutions. This position requires an individual to be creative, team-oriented, a quick learner, and driven to produce results.

  1. Coding

  3. Testing and/or Unit Testing
  4. Test automation
  5. Debugging
  6. Reliability
  7. Availability
  8. Performance analysis
  9. Critical and/or high visibility customer support
  10. Responsible for providing support in development and testing activities of other engineers that involve several inter-dependencies
  11. Participate in technical discussions within the team and with other groups within Business Units associated with specified projects
  12. Willing to work on additional tasks and responsibilities that will contribute towards team, department and company goals
  13. Provide guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers
  14. A strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices
  15. System/Kernel programming experience
  16. Knowledge of Filesystems
  17. Experience with Networking and file/cloud protocols
  18. Excellent coding skills in C/C++
  19. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential
  20. Work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high-quality standards. Possesses sufficient technical knowledge and experience to pick up new expertise quickly with guidance from a technical leader.
  21. Strong aptitude for learning new technologies
  22. Follow standard engineering principles and practices
  23. Resourceful in applying creative ideas to solve problems

Responsibility:

  1. Responsible for non-routine and unstructured tasks, requiring creative solutions with more inter-dependencies and with processes that are less defined
  2. The individual works on complex problems with partially defined, larger scope
  3. May work with teams across the company in problem-solving and design efforts
  4. The individual will begin to develop a technical specialty

Interaction:

  1. Work effectively with staff to senior manager level employees within the function and the technical team on assigned projects. There may be communication with employees in other functions within Business Units as required
  2. Work independently with minimal guidance from other Senior members in the team

Education

Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $160,000 - $226,450 and will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU's), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies.
