Our Company

InVivo Biosystems is a small and growing biotech company that provides contracted research services to industry and academic researchers around the world. Working with microscopic worms (C. elegans) and zebrafish, we partner with organizations on their research journey to improve human health.

Position Overview:

As the Front End Developer, you will play a critical role in crafting an intuitive user interface for our zebrafish tank monitoring system. This system will capture still images and videos of zebrafish in their home tanks and utilize advanced image analysis techniques to identify the number of fish and their sizes. The software will record and store this data in a database, presenting it to researchers in a comprehensive report format. Your primary responsibility will involve developing a user-friendly interface that interacts seamlessly with the backend system, enabling researchers to access and visualize the collected data effectively. You will work closely with a small multidisciplinary team, including biologists, an optical engineer, and another software developer, to drive the design, implementation, and successful deployment of this cutting-edge monitoring system.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with biologists, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand user requirements and translate them into robust technical specifications.
  • Create intuitive user interfaces and interactive dashboards to present monitoring data in a visually appealing and user-friendly format.
  • Conduct rigorous testing, debugging, and performance optimization to ensure the system operates reliably and efficiently in diverse laboratory environments.
  • Use version control systems such as Github to manage and track changes to code repositories, collaborating effectively with team members.
  • Work closely with a team and foster a collaborative and innovative work culture.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, best practices, and industry standards relevant to software development for zebrafish research and image analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Experience in the development of user-friendly applications, preferably in the life sciences or biotechnology domain.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript programming and software libraries.
  • Proficient in developing intuitive user interfaces and interactive data visualization using modern web technologies (e.g., JavaScript, HTML5, CSS).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a strong attention to detail and the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work with a team to deliver high-quality software solutions within defined timelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
