We are seeking a Civil Engineer with water resources and site development experience to join our Baltimore, MD team. The successful candidate will support complex projects such as port/cargo terminal upland site work from concept development to preparation of construction documents, dredging, and municipal projects throughout the area. Experience with large projects, project phasing plans (to minimize impact to live operations), and industrial sites will be an asset to your success for this position! Qualified candidates will have 6 to 10 years of experience working on heavy civil projects that includes: design and preparation of construction drawings and contract documents. You will have strong communication skills and will be committed to assist with the leading of projects and teams. This individual must be self-directed, dedicated, and success focused.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare design documents and reports for civil site development (site layout, grading, storm water, erosion control, utilities, and other infrastructure systems)
  • Creates feasibility studies by analyzing engineering design, conducting environmental impact studies, and assembling data.
  • Plan, schedule work, and complete work assignments within established budget and timelines
  • Perform calculations, cost estimates, prepare drawings, technical specifications, and write reports
  • Mentor and assist junior engineers and designers in developing final design plans
  • Coordinate civil design staff along with other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets
  • Perform limited field observations in support of construction and data collection
  • Attend client meetings as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer licensure in Maryland or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
  • 6 to 10 years of civil site design experience (familiarity with complex sites and movement of heavy equipment is strongly desired)
  • Competence in general civil engineering design is required including grading, drainage, hydraulics and hydrology, stormwater, erosion sediment control, roadway, and paving
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, XPSWMM, Microsoft Word, and Excel required. MicroStation experience is desired
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical requirements:

The position requires long periods of computer work, interacting with others and potentially attending client meetings or conducting site visits. Site visits may require navigating unpaved terrain while carrying equipment.
