WHAT YOU’LL DO

Responsible for mentoring and leading the execution of the office’s local engineering group. This position will support the Operations/Engineering Manager while serving as a change agent to help improve overall communication, project execution, and efficiency within Engineering.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities:

  1. Support the local office Engineering Management as an SME and escalation resource in coordination with local Operations Management.
  2. Provide leadership and guidance to local engineering team.
  3. Share, teach and reinforce the use of AVI-SPL standard practice across the team.
  4. Coach and motivate team members to successfully perform job requirements and to meet and exceed goals and objectives.
  5. Regularly communicate using daily huddles with the engineering team to ensure consistency and timely completion of engineering tasks.
  6. Lead the engineering team with a positive attitude that aligns with teamwork, mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  7. Support leadership with establishing departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
  8. Conduct frequent spot checks of team’s work to ensure accuracy and adherence to all company standards.
  9. Lead lessons learned meetings as necessary.
  10. Review pre-construction design and documentation, technical design, and pricing as needed.
  11. Meet with vendors and prospective vendors to help evaluate products and act as a customer liaison for engineering inquiries and post-sales project consultation.
  12. Review project designs created by internal and external resources.
  13. Review hour estimation for work based on needs analysis, scope of work, and bid requirements.
  14. Remain abreast of AV advances in the field and identify areas of use in the organization.
  15. Create and maintain technical documentation in accordance with company guidelines and translate customer requirements into functional system designs.
  16. Contribute to improving process workflows and maintaining system administration, scheduling, and resources for the department.

  8. Energized self-starter capable of working and thinking independently and ensuring to meet deadlines.
  9. Clear and professional communication skills (written and oral) both internally and externally.
  10. Demonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills.
  11. Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
  12. Understand basic IP networking.
  13. Advanced computer skills as required for the design, configuration, and operation of AV equipment.
  14. Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards.
  15. Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice-To-Haves:

  1. Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.
  2. At least 10 years of AV experience is preferred.
  3. Experience with Enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Bluejeans, Cisco Telepresence, etc.) - both hardware and software.
  4. AVIXIA CTS-D (Certified Technical Specialist-Design) is preferred.
  5. A minimum of 6 years of AV experience plus a four-year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience.
