This position is responsible for supporting and configuring a complex enterprise Local Area (LAN), Wide Area (WAN), and Wireless (WLAN) network.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
- Work with both internal and external customers to understand business requirements and needs.
- Design maintainable solutions to meet business and compliance requirements through creation and application of best practices to ensure consistency, maintainability, and compliance.
- Participate in 24x7 on call rotations.
- Deploy new solutions and configurations.
- Ensure service availability through creation and delivery of KPI reports.
- Discover current technical standards and best practices (R&D).
- Deploy patches, updates, and configuration changes.
- Create and document engineering standards.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in networking and telecommunications.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: Technical Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP-ENT or other platforms relative to LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi is preferred.
Platform knowledge (UNIX, Linux, Windows): Cisco, Aruba, Juniper, Palo Alto, InSeego, Cradlepoint.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
- Strong knowledge in enterprise LANs, WANs, WLANs, including routers, switches, firewalls, network load balancers and wireless access points.
- Strong knowledge in layer 3 routing protocols: OSPF, RIP, and BGP.
- Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocol troubleshooting ability, specifically with using protocol analyzers and/or sniffers.
- Strong knowledge of low voltage network cabling and standards.
- Strong ability with TCP/IP packet analysis.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
Additional knowledge or experience as a plus but not required:
- Working Knowledge in SDWan platforms.
- Working knowledge in VOIP: Cisco UCCX, CUCM or other platforms.
- Working knowledge of IPSEC s2s VPN.
- Working knowledge of Cloud deployments.
- Knowledge of scripting and automation (Python, Terraform, and Ansible for example).
Working Conditions
- Normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to work some nights and weekends.
