Our team designs, develops and maintains massively scaling technology solutions brought to life with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions.Key Responsibilities:As the Senior Manager of IT Application Development, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a new internal flight planning system. This pivotal product is integral to United's growth strategy and is designed to seamlessly integrate with multiple other products within the organization. Your main responsibility will be to lead a team dedicated to digital transformation. This will involve providing hands-on leadership in the design, analysis, and development of highly scalable solutions. The role will emphasize solutions architecture, Agile development, and driving organizational change.Led and managed a team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based application/sLead a portfolio of technology projects to ensure delivery of work requests and projects are within committed budget, on schedule, and the quality of individual projects meets the overall department performance goalsManage multiple vendor development teams assigned to projects and core supportUnderstand and partner with United business and DT leadership teams along with product SMEs to define the end-state vision, goals, and strategy of the product and create multi-year product development strategy and tactical plansShare knowledge and collaborate to come up with effective and innovative solutions to problemsEngage and partner with collaborators, technical and business, to understand business requirements and user expectations, and lead the development of solutions that meet functional and technical requirementsAligning with business partners on delivery success criteria and ensuring technology solutions follow architectural standardsProvide delivery estimates and case updates to support overall IT performance metrics, monthly project status reporting and quarterly resource planning reviewIdentify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutionsResponsible for escalating, assisting and follow-through on resolution of issues related to delivery of technology solutionsEnsure standard processes for Agile methodologies are implemented, and continuous improvements are made, as neededEnsure alignment to code scanning and other security protocols are adhered to during development and releaseEmpower, coach, and develop team membersPromote a culture of learningEstablish team and individual’s goals including performance reviews and career and performance plansPerform short and long-term resources (internal and external) planning to ensure the proper number of resources and right skills are available to meet project goals and schedulesAssess and recommend improvements to the organization structure, roles, and responsibilitiesUnited values diverse experiences, perspectives, and we encourage everyone who meets the minimum qualifications to apply. We are always looking for individuals who will bring something new to the table!QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):Bachelor's degree in Engineering Management, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field7+ years of relevant experience in web development, content management systems, and architectureExperience in common architecture frameworks such as Microservices, API managementExperience in designing or building applications using AWS cloud architecture & services and support of highly available and resilient multi-region platformsUnderstanding of system architecture principles, including the ability to design scalable and reliable solutionsExperience in application development (.Net Core, SQL, JavaScript, ReAct…etc.)Leadership experience and the ability to guide and inspire a teamProject management skills may also be beneficialA mentality for continuous learning and staying updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and standard processesSophisticated technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, project management and other related disciplines/processesWell versed in Agile development and requirements management processesMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the positionWhat will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):Master's degreeAWS certificationPractical experience in developing and architecting highly integrated, high user base systems is highly valuedLeadership experience in managing multiple, large, multi-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key collaboratorsUnited Airlines is an equal opportunity employer.
