Engineering Logistics Coordinator
Newport News, VA
This position supports the PEO Aircraft Carriers - Carrier Engineering Team (SEA 05V). The Testing and Sea Trials Coordinator will support the CVN Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) testing, sea trials and redelivery Key Events. Tasking will include the planning and execution of the RCOH testing in the areas of propulsion, topside, HM&E, and sea trials. The Testing and Sea Trial Coordinator will:
  • Assist in tracking of all pre- and post-delivery testing events. Provide recommendations on required dockside, at-sea, and post-delivery testing.
  • Coordinate with ship's force, contractors, and government entities to monitor the RCOH testing programs (propulsion, topside and HM&E) and assist in the development of test program reporting metrics to project team leadership.
  • Develop recommendations regarding the process by which the government and contractor agree that a particular discrepancy item is cleared, and/or who has the responsibility for future correction.
  • Coordinate with ship's force, contractors, and government entities in the development of the sea trials agenda.
  • Develop and maintain administrative reports for tracking testing requirements in accordance with references.
  • During the conduct of Sea Trials, maintain liaison with and inform all government riders on all matters pertaining to the sea trial agenda and changes thereto. Maintain presence on the ship during the sea trial period and perform all manner of coordination duties related to executing the sea trial plan. This task will include getting underway with the ship for approximately five days for the execution of Sea Trials.
  • Perform all manner of coordination and communications duties related to ensuring the results of sea trials, (discrepancies, incomplete work lists, further actions, etc.) are clearly communicated to all parties and adequately tracked by the government.
  • Document all processes used in the development of the Sea Trial Agenda and Plan and provide a final report with recommendations for improvement of future evolutions.
  • Assist in screening discrepancies, reporting progress, problem areas, significant results, recommendations, and work planned.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of twenty years experience related to US Navy Ships is required. The candidate must be comfortable in a shipboard environment and accustomed to working with US Navy personnel. CVN experience is a plus.
  • The ability to work within a Microsoft Office software environment (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access) is essential. Knowledge of MS Project is a plus.
  • One must have exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team.
  • High school Diploma, related military experience, trade/industrial school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • US Citizen with Secret Security Clearance
