About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and technically skilled Physical Simulation Engineer to enhance our robotics simulations at Hillbot. This role requires the ability and willingness to push the performance of physical simulators to the best of their potential. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in C/C++/Python programming and GPU acceleration. You will collaborate with robotics scientists to develop efficient simulation environments that best fit the needs of robots and can be easily transferred to the real world. You will also work with computer graphics scientists to bring SOTA simulation algorithms to real applications in the industry, including simulation of rigid /deformable bodies, thin shells, cloth, fluids, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and optimize algorithms for physics engines, such as rigid body/deformable body simulation, thin shell simulation, cloth simulation, fluid simulation, etc.
- Utilize GPU acceleration technology to enhance computational performance.
- Conduct performance analysis and tuning of software components.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in numerical simulations and GPU technology.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Graphics, Robotics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in physical simulation, numerical linear algebra, and (convex) optimization.
- Proficient in programming languages such as C++, Python, and CUDA.
- Good understanding of parallel computing and optimization techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in physics engine development (e.g., for games or digital twins).
- Familiarity with machine learning and AI technologies.
- Publications at relevant academic conferences.
