Typical Duties
Office of Research & Innovation, Division of Animal Resources invites applicants to apply for an outstanding opportunity to join our team as a Engineering Technician. The Division of Animal Care Facility is seeking individuals who will be responsible for assisting our Equipment Manager with corrective maintenanceprojects on the Division of Animal Resources' (DAR) capital equipment with the goal of eventuallybeing able to perform these tasks independently. This is a Monday-Friday position
-Perform routine preventative maintenance on various types ofequipment owned by DAR.
The equipment includes, but is not limited to ventilationsystems, steam autoclaves and wash
systems.
-Manage operations and maintenance of Hydropac pouch machineand processes under guidance
of Equipment Manager. This will include all maintenance ofmachine, ensuring daily and
emergency quantities are maintained, and ensuring any watertesting protocols are followed.
Share responsibility of running Hydropac machine with thedeliveries technician.
-Manage and maintain the warehouse under direction ofEquipment Manager. This role will be
shared with the deliveries technician who will maintain PPEinventory and equipment manager
concentrating on other items stored at the warehouse.
Qualifications

-Previous experience with steam,pneumatic and chemicals in an industrial setting
-Previous experience with forklifts,box trucks, pallet jacks
-Strong analytical and troubleshootingexperience
-Technical/trade school or training
Minimum Qualifications
-High school diploma or equivalent
-Prior experience working with mechanical and electricalsystems and/or facilities experience
-Knowledge of MS office products
-Ability to follow both oral and written instructions
-Ability to use hand tools and electrical multi-meters
-Willingness to work with and around animals in a researchenvironment
-Valid Driver's License and ability to drive VCU ownedvehicles
-Demonstrated experience working in andfostering a diverse and inclusive environment
Typical Experience
-Skills employed include basic diagnostic and repair of electrical, mechanical,
pneumatic, steam, plumbing and electronic systems.
