Design Engineer

Judge Direct Placement is seeking a Design Engineer with refrigeration experience in Springfield, IL area! The candidate will be responsible for design, implementation, and support of refrigeration systems including new products and maintenance of current production.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and lead numerous key projects including development and implementation as well as directing and supervising others
• Direct the creation, implementation, and full qualification of refrigeration system designs
• Specify appropriate refrigeration components for complex designs
• Determine the means for controlling refrigerant flow and size the appropriate components
• Optimize the refrigerant charge amount in system design
• Follow best practices to implement design that meet requirements including quality, cost, performance, manufacturing, and serviceability
• Brainstorm creative design solutions to technical challenges on new and existing products
• Develop and manage projects plans including timeline, budget, resource needs and risk management
• Support existing products through CI, quality issue resolution and value improvement
• Facilitate cross functional meetings, track and report project status
• Work closely with engineering team

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required
• 5+ years of commercial or residential refrigeration experience
• Demonstrated success on commercial or residential refrigerated projects
• Thorough working knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics
• In depth understanding of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) codes and regulations, and safety (UL) and sanitation (NSF) requirements for commercial refrigerated equipment
