Position Overview

The Assistant Chief Engineer will assist with overseeing the station's day-to-day operations and is responsible for scheduling and maintenance of all broadcast technology while communicating effectively with the rest of the staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assists in managing all aspects of the Engineering Department
  2. Communicates and coordinates with other departments to provide support wherever needed
  3. Maintains all broadcast technology and equipment for the station and transmitter sites
  4. Ensures station compliance with rules and regulations applicable to FCC, local, state, and federal laws
  5. Proactive, dynamic, flexible, self-starter with a positive attitude who can learn new systems or equipment on their own
  6. Works closely with Chief Engineer to implement new technologies and technical infrastructure for the station
  7. Assists with managing engineering and technology capital projects to the established budgets
  8. Evaluates, selects, installs, services, and maintains station equipment and information technology systems
  9. Repairs and maintains station building infrastructures
  10. Assists in maintaining a station vehicle fleet, including live satellite trucks
  11. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills

  1. Associate Degree in Electronics, Communications, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred
  2. Strong communication, both verbal and written
  3. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  4. Minimum three years experience with a television broadcasting environment
  5. Familiarity with Adobe-related software/hardware products a plus
  6. Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  7. Ability to work extended hours, as needed
  8. Ability to document and train other individuals on new equipment
