This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including design, production, quality, and maintenance, to ensure seamless manufacturing operations and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Design and Development:
- Design and develop efficient manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
- Create detailed process documentation, including process flow diagrams, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Select appropriate equipment, tools, and materials to optimize manufacturing operations.
- Process Improvement:
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement process improvements using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Conduct time and motion studies to optimize workflow and reduce cycle times.
- Quality Assurance:
- Develop and implement quality control measures to ensure products meet specifications and standards.
- Collaborate with quality engineers to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production defects.
- Conduct regular process audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Production Support:
- Provide technical support to production teams to resolve process-related issues.
- Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process problems to minimize downtime.
- Train production staff on new processes, equipment, and best practices.
- Project Management:
- Lead projects related to the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and monitor project progress.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Develop and implement safety procedures to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
- Participate in safety audits and address any identified safety concerns.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of manufacturing processes, equipment specifications, and quality control measures.
- Prepare reports on process performance, improvement initiatives, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Document and communicate best practices and lessons learned to the engineering team.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in process design and optimization tools (e.g., CAD, CAM, FMEA).
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
- Experience with manufacturing technologies and equipment, such as CNC machining, automation, and robotics.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and statistical process control (SPC).
Working Conditions:
- Primarily based in a manufacturing facility.
- May require occasional travel to other sites, suppliers, or customers.
- Exposure to industrial environments, requiring adherence to safety protocols.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in production areas.
