About the Opportunity
ASC have multiple opportunities for a Lead/Senior Electrical Engineers to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis and based in Osborne, SA or Henderson, WA.
Reporting to the Team Lead, the role will be providing technical design expertise to ASC and the Royal Australian Navy in support of the Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) Life of Type Extension (LOTE) Program. The role will see the successful applicants taking responsibility for electrical design, modification and integration of submarine systems.
The successful person will deliver technical decisions that are safe, practical and suitable for implementation on board the Collins Class Submarines, which contribute to Australia’s frontline naval capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Completion of calculations/analysis/modelling,
- Design of new systems, system redesign and sub-system/component design and integration,
- Provision of technical direction throughout a design project's lifecycle,
- Preparation of engineering documentation such as specifications, sketches, test procedures and engineering reports,
- Review and approval of engineering artefacts.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar (Degree must satisfy membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia at MIEAust level)
- Ability to work unsupervised and to work well within a multi-discipline team of engineers and technical personnel.
- Experience in:
- Power distribution: Low and Medium Voltage AC/DC
- Control and Monitoring
- Motors and Drives
- EMI/EMC
- Experience working through integration issues with stakeholders.
- Ability to build and maintain interpersonal and professional relationships with stakeholders.
- Systems engineering principles and their application in the design lifecycle.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals. Applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
