LPR International is seeking a System Safety Engineer to support a client. This is a remote position but may require travel to the client site.
Job Duties:
- Under general supervision, reviews, analyzes, and prepares contractor, subcontractor and customer program submittals including accident risk assessment reports; preliminary hazard analyses, system hazard analyses, tracking system and system inspection checklists, ground and range safety and orbital safety procedures, and accident and incident investigation analyses.
- Reviews and analyzes program development documentation for new and ongoing program including design criteria, specification and drawing, test operations and maintenance procedures, safety equipment and personal protective clothing, trade-off studies and sighting plans; conducts independent and complex analyses to evaluate system design, accident risk factors and hazard energy sources and recommends major abatement or mitigation actions to prevent or correct safety hazards. Prepares test plans, monitors results and prepares final test reports.
- Conducts special analyses as directed.
- Prepares materials for presentations and participates in design reviews, technical interchange and related meetings.
- Provides day-to-day technical responsibility of the multiple system safety efforts for projects including payloads, launch vehicles, and ground support equipment.
- Maintains overall knowledge of NASA Safety Policy and ensures customer satisfaction by responding to customer requirements encompassing these engineering disciplines.
- Responsible for properly identifying customer problems and issues, researching program requirements, and determining the most effective solution given technical qualifications and contractual requirements.
- Provides guidance and works independently with the customer
Essential:
- BA/BS degree (i.e., engineering, mathematics or physics).
- Experience: 7 or more years of directly related experience
- Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
- Requires excellent communication skills.
- Interacts regularly with customer representatives concerning work in progress
- Interpersonal relationship building and customer interfacing skills are desired.
- Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Forward looking thinker, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions
- Strong, open communication and interpersonal skills.
- Initiative, confidence, integrity and professionalism. Able to deal with commercially and personally sensitive issues effectively and appropriately.
- Efficient use of personal computer and other office equipment such as fax, copier, printer, etc. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, Internet, and other technical resources.
- Intermittent physical activity including bending, reaching, standing, climbing stairs, kneeling, and/or stooping.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
