Motion Graphic Designer

Straight Arrow News seeks a multi-talented motion graphic designer to help bring issues-driven news stories, marketing and social materials to life! The ideal candidate is an imaginative broadcast designer, critical thinker, and nuanced animator that thrives on collaboration, explainers, infographics, modern typography, template development, and flat design. The position works closely with the Creative Director, other designers, as well as with employees across Straight Arrow News to support all facets of the company.

Expectations:

• Design and animate explainer animations and infographics for video editors, newscasts, promos, image campaigns, and social media.
• Design for social media content.
• Design layouts or new features for website and app.
• Work independently and as part of a team, from concept through delivery.
• Collaborate with video editors, producers, and reporters in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Develop After Effects motion graphics templates used by our editors in Adobe Premiere.
• Ability to produce high-quality work and meet strict deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Candidate must have had formal training in design/art and preferably motion at trade school or college. Please don't apply if you are not a designer.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree, preferred.
• 5+ years of motion graphic design experience.
• 5+ years of graphic design experience.
• Strong visual design skills with a clear understanding of typography, composition, and color.
• Knowledgeable of broadcast and digital design standards.
• Ability to design and animate in a variety of modern flat styles.
• Strong executional skills in Adobe products, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and XD is also preferred.
• Excellent overall design skills
• Experience with template development for end users is a plus.
• Great attention to detail.
• Strong spelling and grammar skills
• Experience with UX/UI and/or promo editing in Premiere Pro is a plus.
• Must provide a link to a current demo reel.
• Evening availability required
