Embedded Engineer (CAN Network Analysis )
LER TechForce is looking for an Embedded Engineer (CAN Network Analysis) to help support the development of trailer based HVAC systems . This full-time position offers the opportunity to benefit from an innovative work environment, flexible schedules, and ongoing professional development.
We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Engineer with a strong background in embedded systems and CAN network analysis, specifically focusing on J1939 standards. In this role, you will diagnose and resolve complex issues related to CAN networks, including voltage drops, signal integrity, and protocol functionality. Your expertise will extend to modeling and implementing changes to enhance overall system performance.

JOB LOCATION:
Bloomington, MN
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • CAN Network Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis of CAN network issues, including voltage drops and signal integrity problems, using advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Standards Expertise: Apply in-depth knowledge of J1939 sub-standards (J1939-1x, J1939-2x, J1939-3x) and differentiate between J1939 flavors for off-truck and towed trailer applications, focusing on ISO 11898 and ISO 11992.
  • Modeling and Implementation: Develop controls-oriented models for HVAC systems, including refrigeration and power electronics. Propose and implement modeling changes to support software tools.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with advancements in CAN network technology and propose process improvements for enhanced reliability.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain records of network issues and provide comprehensive reports and recommendations for system improvements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and software developers, to address network issues.
  • Project Participation: Engage in project processes to develop solutions that meet project goals, estimating work effort and documenting assumptions
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in embedded engineering with a focus on CAN network analysis. Experience with hardware and software development is key.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in analyzing and troubleshooting CAN networks, including physical layer and signal integrity. Familiarity with J1939 sub-standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across various protocol layers.
  • Nice to Have: Familiarity with ISO 11898 and ISO 11992 for analyzing both truck and towed vehicle networks.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
  • Proficiency in using CAN analysis tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANOE, PCAN) is essential.
