Beats Engineering is looking for a Senior Packaging Engineer to join the Beats Packaging team. This engineer will be responsible for the exploration and implementation of new and innovative packaging designs for Beats NPI products. The position will span from concept generation to detailed design, analysis and testing throughout a full product development lifecycle. The position will require close cooperation with cross-functional stakeholders throughout Beats, and collaboration across multiple teams. Description
Developing initial packaging design layouts and structures. Supporting supplier sourcing and validation of packaging materials. Prototyping packaging samples to prove function, manufacturability, and robustness. Design and validate multi and single pack shipping cartons. Create test plans, execute reliability testing as well as analyzing data from builds. Support environmental initiatives and logistics activities. Perform tolerance analyses and set cosmetic specifications. Detailed design and 2D documentation of all parts and assemblies. Interacting with vendors to develop manufacturing processes and tooling concepts. Travel to support build activities including finding root cause for failures and solutions for issues that impede build progress.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Packaging
- 8+ years of relevant working experience in Packaging Engineering, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working collaboratively with packaging suppliers on designs from concept to mass production
- Serious consideration will be given to qualified candidates from consumer electronics, automotive, cosmetic, sporting goods, footwear, outdoor industry, and other fields with relevant technology and development models
- An understanding of tolerance analysis, statistics & process control
- Able to drive quality, schedule and design both internally and externally
- CAD design experience using both 2D and 3D applications (Siemens NX and Artios CAD preferred)
- Experience prototyping packaging samples using a cutting table and various paper materials
- Experience executing packaging reliability testing
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
