Software Test Engineer
Remote (once every three months onsite)
Location: 3640 150th Avenue NE , Redmond, WA 98052, United States
Duration: 7 Months with possible extension
Pay: $65/hr W2 - $70/hr W2 (Depends Upon Experience)
Typical Day in the Role
- Purpose of the Team: The team is to create security alerts for suspicious activity from malicious or insider threats, and monitoring for IT infrastructure help.
- Key projects: Candidate will be reviewing software and hardware for bugs and misconfigurations and compliance.
- Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 10% reviewing and prioritizing tickets/sending out communication/updating customers, 20% writing new tests, 70% running tests that are already created, using tools, and examining the results of tests.
Candidate Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 8-10 years of work-related experience
- Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain Experience testing software, Experience writing test documentation such as Test Plans, scripts and test results reports, Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of Experience with Fiddler, Wireshark, and network monitoring tools.
- Minimum 2+ years of Experience reviewing the security context of Windows software.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience with Python, Powershell, Git, and Sysinternals.
Job Responsibilities:
- Experience reviewing security context of Windows software.

- Experience with packet capture software.
- Experience with sysinternals tools.
- DNS knowledge.
- Networking experience.
- Experience with windows registry.

- Ability to analyze packet captures and their implications in a secure network.
- Ability to write and update scripts.
- Familiarity with Git and development tooling.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or a related field required.
- 8-10 years’ experience required.
- Experience testing software.
- Experience writing test documentation such as Test Plans, scripts and test results reports.
- Ability to analyze/interpret test results and provide recommendations to improve testing.
