Advanced Mission Partners a wholly owned subsidiary of SSAI, seeks CNC Machinist. to help provide support to the procurement team. The CNC Machinist manufactures precisely engineered parts used to build instruments, machines and tools. Their duties include setting up equipment, operating equipment and inspecting finished parts. The position is located at the manufacturing facility in Lanham, Maryland. The responsibilities include:Responsibilities:Review samples, drawings or instructions to understand specifications of outputPlan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a jobTake measurements and mark material for cutting or shapingSelect appropriate machines (e.g. lathes) and position or load material for a jobDetermine and program size of batches, speed of machine etc.Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issuesCheck output to ensure consistency with specifications and report defectsKeep records of approved and defective units or final productsPerform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damagesRequired Qualifications:Proven experience and familiarity with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) software and machinery used for computer-aided manufacturingExperience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers) to take accurate measurementsKnowledge of the properties of metal and other materialAbility to read blueprints, schematics and manualsMath skills to take precise measurements and make calculationsDemonstrated oral and written communication skillsAnalytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective manufacturing plans based on specificationsAbility to move roughly 25 to 50 pounds and remain stationary throughout a shiftUnderstanding of health and safety regulations to reduce the risk of workplace accidentsPreferred Qualifications:Completion of vocational school training10+ years’ experience operating CNC machinerySupervisory experience.EOE, including disability/vetsPhysical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
